As of lately you guys may have noticed we haven’t been having as many online tournaments! But if your in the Miami area you’re in luck! Several LAN Modern Warfare 2 tournaments have been happening down there. If you’d like to meet up with one of our Representatives and hit up a LAN please contact us. As we mentioned before we are going to keep you guys updated with the Socom series upcoming news. Zipper is returning to the franchise and bringing in another addition to the Playstation 3, Socom IV. A weekly Podcast has been started by Zipper and you can listen now to the one released just last week.
Another great group of individuals from the Socom Community stared “Socasts.” These Podcasts review all details that have been released and members of the community discuss controversial issues. Many great questions and discussions were brought up in their second most recent Socast which you can listen to here. Special thanks to socom community members HTK, LUKENBACHER, and R_E_V for creating such a great Socast! Also cast your vote and help Socom go back to its roots by bringing back Socom II in HD.

That’s right folks! We got another Map Pack coming our way and lets hope that his one is tight-as-hell! Can’t wait to see you guys on the new maps and here is some more information.
“It seems that Infinity Ward will be following its earlier formula for its new map pack for Modern Warfare 2. Recently community manager of the studio, Robert Bowling, shared some details about the Resurgence Pack. He said that the Resurgence Pack will be sold for 1200 points ($15) and as the earlier Stimulus Package, this map pack also feature five maps, in which there are three new environments and two maps updated from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. These two are Vacant, set inside an open Russian complex, and urban environment Strike.” – ModernWarfare2
Below are the details of three new maps as shared by Robert Bowling:
- Carnival – This map is set inside a “desolated amusement park” and it has unique locations like a rollercoaster and fun house.
- Trailer Park – Bowling says that this is a cozy map and it features abandoned trailers and tight corridors. He also says further that this map is like a maze with various chokepoints.
- Fuel – This is like a “sniper haven”. It is based in an oil refinery and according to him this is one of the larger environments of the game.
We know many of you must not play Socom, but it was a great game, and we are going to share the love with all of our Call of Duty hardcore players. Here at the office many, many of us also play on the Playstation network. We’ve been fans of Socom since it started almost 8 years ago in August of 2002. Socom I was released for the Playstation 2. I still remember playing all-night with a few clan mates! Good times, good times. A few weeks ago Zipper made the announcement of Socom 4: US Navy Seals. This will be the second installment on the Playstation 3, after a flop on their first, Socom: Confrontation. Sony has decided to return to their “roots” by employing “Zipper” which was responsible for some of the best Socom installments.
Many rumors have been spreading about how Socom 4 will play out in regards to pleasing long-time fans such as ourselves. Additions of new cover systems and the sprint button has enraged many fans over the Socom 4 Forums on the Playstation boards.
